Dan Lipinski, Champion Mudslinger
In the final days before the 2008 Democratic Primary, the Lipinski campaign distributed a flyer on the South Side. It criticized progressive challenger Mark Pera for accepting money from online citizen advocacy groups, charging:
These groups and their millions of dollars are not from the Southwest Side . . .
|
The flyer was quoted from a blog by Joe Kulys. However, Kulys had written even more in his original post, which the Lipinski campaign conveniently left out:
Unfortunately for me, the Marquette Park neighborhood I love and fight for is just outside the boundaries of the Third Congressional District. So I can’t cast a vote in the Democratic Primary for Congressman Lipinski.

Hard to believe? Compare the flyer to the blog. Apparently Lipinski doesn’t like out-of-district activists unless they’re his out-of-district activists.
Speaking of which, did you know your congressman has taken campaign cash from the AT&T Federal Political Action Committee (PAC), based in Texas? Or the Portland Cement Association PAC from Washington, DC? Or Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz? Lipinski has hundreds of out-of-district PACs and contributors—see for yourself: Federal Election Commission.
Where, oh where, is Joe Kulys when you need him? (Not in the 3rd District—he’s already admitted to that!)
